Our Mission

The Lakewood Community Development Corporation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit committed to improving life in Lakewood, NY.

2004

The Chautauqua Avenue Renewal Project was completed.


Included major improvements:

  • Underground utilities

  • New street lights

  • New curbing and sidewalks

  • Tree plantings

  • Creation of Lakewood’s iconic clock tower and Recognition Park

 

The $2.2 million project was funded by local individuals, businesses, and foundations as well as the Town of Busti and the Village of Lakewood.

 

2023

The Hartley Park Playground Project was completed as part of the Rebuilding the Way We Play Campaign, bringing a state-of-the-art playground to Hartley Park in Lakewood.


Key features of the playground:

  • Zipline

  • Hill racing slides

  • Custom imaginative-play treehouse

  • New park walkways and stairs

  • ADA-accessible parking

 

The $700,000 project was funded by local individuals, businesses, the Village of Lakewood, and the NYS Waterfront Revitalization Program Grant.

This is the first step in revitalizing the entire Hartley Park.

 

2025

Launched the inaugural “Rock the Lake” summer concert series, welcoming locals and visitors alike to enjoy music on Lake Chautauqua.


Highlights of the event:

  • Live music for the community

  • Local food and vendors

  • Family-friendly lakeside experience

  • Annual summer tradition for the Village of Lakewood
